good for you for getting out of an abusive situation! it's very challenging to do that.

i used to work with battered women, children and men in a large urban area women's center in tx. i had many clients who were in same gender abusive situations.

it's not easy getting out! good for you!!!!!!!!

there are many people you can find who are kind and healthy on tribe who will be friendly.

just avoid the online wankers and stalkers and you'll be ok!

    welcome sabrina!

Hey Sabrina, My name is Zoe. I hail in North Texas, DFW area. I identify as genderqueer and am attracted to men, women, and everything in between. Texas can be a harsh place and both strait and queer communities can nurture cliques and elitism, I understand. It's especially hard for people who are gendervariant identified like me. I just look for the genuine folks. I work with the disabled too!! I work at a high school in Arlington, Texas with the skills department. I'm traveling in January so i'm leaving the job, but I've worked at the school over 3 years and have loved it. I actually just joined and wanted a place to meet LGTBQ folks around the country.

sabrina i moved the hell away from texas as fast as i could and 8 years later hightailed it completely out of the south to san francisco. i didn't even know i was bi when i left texas but i don't think i could have come out there even though i'm bold.

there is just so much backward shit in texas!

but you can look for women's bookstores and many universities have women's studies depts. that is where there are a lot of liberals who will be more welcoming.

and houston has a fabu gay pride parade.

i would contact the national gay and lesbian and bi and trans task force and see if they know of any local resources.

and the internet is a great way to meet bi folks who might otherwise be closeted who are actually in your same city.

    good luck.

Welcome to the tribe and great to hear you are in a better way. Hope you enjoy talking with everyone here and I hope your next relationship makes you forget your last one completely.

Welcome! I like men and women also, yeah, in "that special way". :-)
I've been a "shy bi", myself, and I live in perhaps the most sexually liberated geographic area on Earth, and I still wonder how the heck to talk to people, get laid, or survive celibacy....
